Ive been at mum's rooting about in my old letters box and found this. I would never have thrown it away!
Thats a note from you to me, around 25 years ago.
You dont remember. Ah well.
I was just going out from Gypsy Hill, going to get the bus home. You shouted to me from the top of the fire escape and ran down the steps and gave that bit of A4 folded in four to me and told me not to look at it until later, you sounded very serious.. Then you ran off again! Im guessing you saw me walking past and wrote it on the spur of the moment. It must have taken a lot for you to do that.
I kind of instinctively knew what it was about yet until that very moment I thought it was me pining for you, not the reverse.
Its a bit splotchy, no, no not from my usual crying, I think it was raining a bit that day so when I unfolded it, it got wet.
I also found letters from you, I know we used to write sometimes, I hadnt realised how much, quite long letters, pages. I didnt really have to time to check them out today.
In one of them you start off saying how your mum would tell you there is another letter from that strange Matthew, she could tell it was me by the way I decorated the envelopes.
